A few months ago I was contacted by one of my wonderful clients, Jen, who was putting together the Winter Wonderland Ball, aiming to raise money for the Heart Foundation. I am proud to be one of the event sponsors, having just dealt with my dad's heart bypass. He was lucky and the warning signs and symptoms he experienced prompted the doctors to investigate, which lead to his by-pass.
They are aiming to raise money for two of the Heart Foundation's programs:
The warning signs campaign, which educates the public about heart attack symptoms, and
The Go Red for Women campaign, which raises awareness about women and heart disease
The organising committee for 1 Big Heart strongly believes more education about heart disease needs to reach the public. It is shocking to learn that heart disease is the number one killer in Australia for both men and women and that so many people ignore or dismiss warning signs of heart attack. Their aim is to raise money to help the Heart Foundation continue their lifesaving work.
